Heather W. Broderick Compilation!

2009 08 24 16:09

Heather W. Broderick went all over Portland this summer, with her bike, and a very wonderful idea in mind: make a compilation of songs recorded on her 4-track machine. She would bike to her friends houses, set up one microphone and people would play a song: live, rough, no tricks, no more than 4 tracks. I was honored to be part of this fun project. I played a song called “liebre” with Nicholas Marshall and Laurel Simmons singing harmonies (thanks!); live, one track. Details of the release of this compilation TBA. Heather makes amazing music, probably one of my favorites right now! and she is releasing a fantastic album on the Australian label Preservation very soon. Take a peek here.

Rachel Blumberg’s Arch Cape!

2009 08 20 08:11

Rachel Blumberg is a percussionist/painter/visual artist/etc señorita who makes portlandites’ life wonderful because she’s one of the most lovely persons you can meet. In October 08, after attending a life-altering Efterklang show at the Doug Fir here in Portland she said to me: I want to have a LOVE band; a band that irradiates love and is fun. Arch Cape is Rachel’s fun & love project and I am happy to be a little part of it. There will be a show as part of a Jealous Butchers’ Showcase for the MFNW in September…
